Oral Cancer Screening and Prevention and Awareness Program :

Smoking and other tobacco (gutkha, khaini etc:) use are associated with about 75 percent of oral cancer cases . Mouth and throat cancer is the sixth most common malignancy reported worldwide with the Indian sub-continent accounting for one-third of the world burden. Changing lifestyle or eating habits and avoiding things known to cause cancer are the best known ways to prevent cancer.


This is a training program for dentists working in rural areas for oral cancer detection and reporting. Training module includes

Detecting premalignant and malignant oral lesions

Toludine blue staining methods

Patient counseling

Reporting to regional cancer registry
